Which rate this uses
The European Central Bank (ECB) publishes reference rates once each business day. The ECB quotes everything against the euro, so the won rate is worked out as won per euro divided by the other currency per euro.
Won to foreign = amount ÷ rate
The ECB does not publish Vietnamese dong, New Taiwan dollar, Mongolian tugrik. For those three the calculator uses currency-api, a free open data set updated once a day. The line under the result tells you which source and date it used.
Why your bank gives you less
Korean banks set a base rate (매매기준율) and then add a margin when you buy foreign money, or take one off when you sell. That margin is the fee. Open the fold above the Calculate button and type the fee or the exact rate from your bank app to see what you will really get.
Yen, dong and rupiah are quoted per 100
Korean banks and news show the yen as the price of 100 yen, so this calculator does too (100 JPY = ₩855). Vietnamese dong and Indonesian rupiah are also shown per 100. Type the amount as it is, for example 10,000 for ten thousand yen.
